1920 - 2009
Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Tuesday November 10, 2009 of Jack Meredith of Milton and formerly of Charlottetown age 89 years. Veteran of World War II. Born in Heywood, England he came to P.E.I. with The Royal Air Force in 1939. Husband of Muriel and the late Bernice Meredith. Dear father of Gary (Diane),and Lana (John) Irwin. Stepfather of Heather Keir (Ormie Hopkins) Grandfather of Doug, Tracey, Jodi, Kelly, Dylan and David. Great grandfather of Michelle, Tyler Jack, Riley, Griffin , Katie, Bayleigh and Max. Brother of Harry Meredith.

George Jarvis Mill

1916 - 2009
At the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home, on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, of George Jarvis Mill, of Sherwood , aged 93 years, veteran of WW 11.

 Loving husband of Edith May Amy Misener (nee Coles). Father of Jarvis (Susan), Erwin (Nancy), Barb Jay (Irwin), Georgie Affleck, Ann Hughes and David Misener (Elaine). Grandfather of 15 grandchildren,12 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Palmerson and Annie Belle (Crossman), his first wife Barbara Marie Reeves, brothers and sisters, Ida MacCully (Seymour), Walter (Margaret Reeves), Helen (Ronald MacDonald), Bessie (Alfred Cole), Elgin (Gladys Coles), James (Lorraine MacInnis), Freddie (in infancy), and grandson William Mill.

Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home where the service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday at 2 P.M. Visitation Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Interment in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home or the Canadian Cancer Society (PEI).

R. Gerald Mitchell

1917 - 2014
With great sadness, the family of Richard Gerald Mitchell announce his passing on Sunday, April 27th, 2014, six days after celebrating his 97th birthday.

Beloved husband of Julia McGaughey. Gerald and Julia were married in 1941 and enjoyed more than 72 years together. He died at home on

Walthen Drive
, in the house where they raised their seven children.
 Much loved by his family: Gerald (Sheila), Morgan (Rose), Regan (Colette), David (Merilyn), Julia (Claude Parent), John (Claire Nantes), Mary (Al Dowling). Memories of "Pop" will always be cherished by his 23 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

 He is survived by his sister and best friend, Marion Mitchell, sister-in-law Mary McAllister, brother-in-law Morgan McGaughey (Sylvia) and many nieces and nephews.

 Gerald was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Loretta (Fitzgerald), sisters and brothers-in-law Marjorie and Frank O'Keefe, Betty and Gordon McWade, Mary and Lou Hennessey and Donald McAllister.

A veteran of WWII, Pte. Mitchell served overseas with the 1st Infantry Division, and after being assigned to the 4th Field Army, 1st Brigade, experienced battlefield activity in Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. After the war, he was employed as a locomotive engineer with the CNR, operating trains from one end of the Island to the other until his retirement in 1979.

 A man of great physical strength, yet a kinder, more gentle soul you could never meet. He was a person of strong faith, a supporter of the right to life and a devoted member of St. Dunstan's Basilica parish.

 Gerald had a passion for band music, having been a member of the League of the Cross Band, the Military Band and the Charlottetown Seniors' Band.

Resting at Hennessey Funeral Home, with visitation on Wednesday, April 30th, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Dunstan's Basilica on Thursday, May 1 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Roman Catholic Cemetery. Charlottetown Branch #1 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Veteran’s Tribute Service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 4:45 p.m.

 As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to P.E.I. Right to Life Association or St. Dunstan's Basilica Restoration Fund would be appreciated.

Edward Wesley Monkley

1941 - 2018
On November 30, 2018, Edward Wesley Monkley of Charlottetown, PE, age 77, peacefully passed away at the Garden Nursing Home in Charlottetown, PE. Edward was the son of the late G. Lorne and Edna Monkley and was born in Summerside, PE, on February 11, 1941. Edward was predeceased by his wife M. Claire Sirois and his brother Allen Monkley of Stratford, PE. Edward is survived by his brother and wife, Errol and Evelyn Monkley of Charlottetown, PE and his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Monkley of Stratford, PE. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and their families including; Sandra (Terry) Pauley of Stratford, PE; Steven (Noella) Monkley of Summerside, PE; Christopher (Kristen Wight) Monkley of Charlottetown, PE; Lisa (Darren) Gray of Stratford, PE; and Allana Monkley (Amanda Dowe) of Truro, NS. Edward will be laid to rest next to his wife at the Church of Saint-Anne, NB, in the parish cemetery. Resting at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel from where a Royal Canadian Legion Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday at 9:50 a.m. immediately followed by the funeral service. Daniel (Dan) M. Morris

1938 - 2011
The death occurred peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 of Mr. Daniel “Dan” M. Morris, of Charlottetown and formerly of Souris, aged 72 years. 

Beloved husband of Diane (nee Emond), and loving father of Danny (Linda) Duquette. 

He was predeceased by his stepchildren Larry, Carol Ann and Roy Duquette, his parents Finbar and Florence (MacDonald) Morris, and brother Hubert “PeeWee” Morris. 

Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home until 9:45 on Saturday morning then transferred to the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer for funeral mass at 10 a.m. 

Interment to follow in the family plot at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. 

If so desired, memorials in Dan’s memory may be made to Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home.

Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Traci, Kim, Rhonda, Sheri, Christine, Marc, Steven, Alan, Matthew, Dylan, by his fourteen great-grandchildren and by his three great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife Roberta (MacLean), granddaughter Michelle Allain, siblings Mildred MacLatchy (Ingram), Phyllis Trenholm (Carman), Ruby Campbell (Donald) and Reginald (WWII K.I.A). Leaman Lewis Murl

1922 - 2009
At The Prince Edward Island Atlantic Baptist Nursing Home, Charlottetown on Friday, February 6, 2009 of Mr. Leaman Lewis Murl of Charlottetown aged 86 years.

Beloved husband of Vera Murl (nee O'Brien) and loving father of Brenda (Joe)Gallant, Douglas, Jack (Rhonda), Ray, David (Darlene) Perry and step-father to Howard (Vera) O'Brien. Leaman will also be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Darren, Janaya, Douglas, Trevor, John, Tamara and great grandchildren, Ethan and Josie.

Resting at The Charlottetown Funeral Home, 33/35 Longworth Avenue from where the funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Reverend Henry Tye officiating. Interment later in the spring in the family plot at Freetown United Church Cemetery.

He is also survived by his adopted family, Darla (Julio) Fox and their son, Mason and many cousins. Predeceased by his parents, Hope & Bessie (Tanton) Mutch.

Dear father of Marie (Joe) Hynes of Codroy Valley, N.L. and Terry (Kim) Myers of Pleasant Grove. He is also survived by four loving grandchildren Brody, Mathieu, Marcy and Nicole; his sister Caroline “Carrie” Burt of York. 

He was predeceased by his parents William and Katherine (nee Venoit) Myers, sisters and brothers Irene, Irving, Alfred, Jack, Kay, Bernard and Charlie, Maida and Bernie O’Brien. 

Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home until 2 p.m. Thursday then transferred to St. Eugene’s Church, Covehead for funeral mass at 2:30 p.m. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery.

Peacefully at his late residence, with family by his side, on Sunday, February 19, 2012, of Preston Alfred Waldo Neill of North Milton, age 91 years.  Veteran of WW II.  Devoted and loving husband for 66 years to Elizabeth "Beth" Neill (nee Mountain).  Dear son of the late John R. and Lilla (Seaman) Neill.  He is survived by daughters:  Glenda (Arthur) Masey, Oshawa, Ontario: Sheila (Ross) Harrington, Spring Valley, PE: Sharon (Dale) MacIntosh, North Vancouver, BC and son Therin (Jean) Neill, Milton, PE.  Grandchildren Gwendy Harrington, Bob Harrington, Amanda (Ryan) Windsor, Steven MacIntosh (Sydney Gudmundson), Janna (Johan) VanWalderveen, Angela Neill (Chad MacDonald), Jeffery Neill (Chelsea MacGregor).  Special grandchildren: Terri (Tyler) Mason and Steven Clarke, Pam and Art Jr. Masey.   Great-grandchildren: Emily and Nathan VanWalderveen, MacKenzie, Alex and Charli Mason, Chloe and Jason Lechance.  Also survived by sisters-in-law: Hattie (late James) Johnston, Summerside, PE; Blanche (late Keith) Bowness, Alberton, PE and several nieces and nephews.  He  was predeceased by his daughter Tracey Dawn Neill, sisters: Rena (late Peter) MacCaull, Violet Norrie-Bruce (late Earle Norrie and late Arnold Bruce), Rosamond (Late David) Pattie and Orva Neill, and brother Irving (late Mary) Neill.  Also predeceased by sister-in-law Lila (late Ralph) Squarebriggs and Muriel (late Jack) Nisbet.  Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home from where the funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.  Interment in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, North Milton.  Visitation on Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Memorial donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation , Grace Baptist Church Building Fund or the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
